This seems to be the theme of the week.
I had a message from one of my lovely yogi friends having seen the information about a possible Norway Retreat next year. I've attached the Wild & Wonderful link at the bottom in case you've not seen it. Do click on the Visit Norway bit - it's very inspiring.
Anyway, my friend (you know who you are) said, 'it's so good to see you finding your wings'.
I've had some lovely feedback about this possible retreat and am really excited to go to Norway and check it out! There will be more to follow on this - but do let me know if it is of interest.
This has coincided with the Wood Pigeons which have nested in my Magnolia tree.
For a while there has been much activity in our back garden with parent Pigeons parading around and tormenting our dogs.
Pigeons make very scrappy nests and make a terrible mess on the paving below.
However, I've been very mindful of these young birds learning to fly. As I feel it's like how we feel when trying 'different or more challenging' yoga pose. Or indeed anything which is outside our comfort zone.
I kept seeing them in my garden on the ground looking for food. But their bodies were too big to hold for the strength of their wings. They scrambled a few times to the top of the shed or fence.
You'll be pleased to know they have now fully fledged and I'm ready to jet wash the paving!
I also posted a few days ago a reel by American teacher David Swenson made about breath and flying. (Attached here again).
David speaks so passionately about the breath like air under a birds wings. I have followed David Swenson's teaching for over 2 decades and attended many of his workshops when he has visited the U.K. You might be interested to know that he was one on the leading teachers who brought 'modern day yoga' to America and 'the West' in the early 1970's.
It's made me think about finding your wings more, and what an important message this is.
Is it better to look back and think I tried, rather than I wish I did?
We're not always going to get it right. Probably not going to take flight the first time we try to do something different, and we're more than likely going to fall and stumble a few times.
Life can be challenging and really difficult at times, but sometimes we have to put some air under our wings to fly.
Have a lovely weekend.
